Snorkeling San Salvador's Coral Gardens

Set out from the pier aboard a catamaran bound for two of San Salvador's finest reef sites, where the water is celebrated for a clarity found in few places in the Caribbean. A certified snorkel instructor accompanies you into the shallows, where coral gardens open below in amber, violet and gold. Soft corals and sea fans sway with the current, orange and red starfish rest on floors of white sand, and sponges and reef fish crowd the formations rising from the seabed below you.

At the second site, tidal currents have carved the rock into archways and sheltered channels alive with juvenile fish. Parrotfish graze along the coral heads while blue tangs, angelfish, trumpetfish and sergeant majors drift past in open water. No previous experience or diving certification is required, and all equipment is provided. Afterward, return to the catamaran for the crossing back to the marina, stepping ashore at the pier two hours after setting out, with San Salvador's underwater world still vivid in mind.

Notes: This is an active excursion recommended only for guests in good physical health. The minimum age is 8 years, and all guests must sign a waiver in order to participate. Guests must negotiate 3 to 5 steps to embark and disembark the vessel. Snorkeling takes place directly from the boat.
